Loretta

Leave your shoes at the door. You do NOT want to be the one that tracks in on the white carpet in the formal living room. You wish you could be that elegant woman that got the invitation to that cocktail party. And maybe, under Loretta’s scrutiny, you could be one day.  Meanwhile, you arrive on time, you bring her some flowers and you take your shoes off at the door. 

 

Loretta has been to her exercise group, has tidied up the already tidy house, has done the crossword puzzle, played bridge and made a sensible supper in her mid-century kitchen that is as clean as the day it was new.  

 

It is now happy hour and time to have a proper cocktail. Lucky you. The gin goes in and the truth comes out as Loretta asks you how you are and you find yourself bearing your soul. She doesn’t need to say anything, she just looks at you and all of your excuses fall away and you come to your own conclusions.  She has just saved you years of therapy but Loretta is more than a therapist. She believes in you and she expects great things from you.  And you know that just like her house, that will never change.
